Hi evry1....i think i hav been readin evry1s visa interviews for t past 2-3 years its my turn now.... i wasn nervous at all n evrythin went off in a pretty cool fashion
i stood in a line...counter no 8....thr was a young american lady aged abt 35-40....who was wearing fancy indian ornaments...beads n stuff...u can recognize her with the huge beaded necklace she was wearin... i think she was still njoyin her christmas vacation...as she was givin visas like christmas gifts 2 evry1
this was my visa interview
me: gud mornin mam.....how r u vo: fine thank u ...how r u... me fine mam me: belated merry christmas maam....handed her t docs vo: thank you very much with a huge smile vo: so ur going to the univ of memphis? me yes mam vo: how did u come to know abt t univ?? me: cpl of my friends r studyin thr....they said its a very good place to be in....n thn i contacted one of the professors MR.MO...he explained a few things abt t reasearch wot they wr doin on mech design....i found it very impressive..... vo: wots ur percentage? me:59.8 ....u c i jus missed my first class by a whisker n i could have scored more if id studied better...i will be studyin hard durin MS vo: backlogs? me: 5 maam vo: hmm...whats ur father?? me hes workin as a sr officer which is of t level of a scientist in ICAR its.....told ful form...explained his job that they do research on growin plants in places whr thr is shortage of water vo : very impressive vo: whats his annual income?? me ___ lacs a yearr vo : whats memphis famous for any idea?? me : ELVIS PRESLEY in a flashhhhh vo : of courseeee....she started laughin n said shes been Graceland when she was a kid (elvis's home n now his grave) n her mom is a big fan of his.... me: me too maam.... vo: thats greattt...thn she chkd my DS form....univ was tulsa was changed to univ of memphis vo: u planned for tulsa b4??? me yes mam....but i got this i20 5 days bak...n i thot this univ was better...so i changed it vo: no i guess u wanted to go to elvis' place so u changed it me...laughin....yes maam. vo finally said....ok thn,...if i issue u visa....u got to promise me that ul go n visit graceland me: yes sure maam i will..... vo: ok thn....ul receive ur passport in 3-5 days me...thnku maam...hav a nice day
she didn check any of my
documents..except degree certificate(not marksheets), gre, toefl, thts
it n some gyan to ppl goin for thr interviews...i don think any of you are abt to go this sem...but still lemme pass it on the whole interview particulary full of crap,,,,though thanks to Elvis Presley that i got my visa the guy jus infront of me got rejected....he was t only rejection in the bunch of 10 ppl in t line includin me... cant say any particular reason for his rejection....but issue was abt financial...he was married...n his in laws wr sponsorin him...he told her his wife is also goin for MS....n has interview on 28th....so a mix of potential immigrant + insufficient funds mite hav wrkd against his favour....

while answering vo's questions don think like hes a school teacher or interviewin for some job... jus build up a conversation with them....explain in detail whn explainin abt some positive stuff...n generate interest in t interviewer they basically dont want to check any documents...but will do it if u dont speak to thm abt things... once ur speakin they jus listen to u....believe me...americans r lik that....i used to work in a BPO for 3 months...n i can say that for sure.
