Ve35, Phd Prgm in Clemson Univ

Time : 8.30 am

I had applied for F1 visa for Phd program in clemson university.

10.30 I reached my counter. It was pretty cool..

Me: Good morning Sir

VO: very good morning!Can I have the folder please.

gave..

Vo: gre..toefl and all marksheets..

gave

VO: oh u have done a good dissertation in Mphil which is highly

commended.

I just said yes and smiled

vo: so u got O grade in B.Ed. that is the highest grade?

Me: Yes sir. I was the second highest in the class.

vo: good..seeing my certificate..first prize in paper presentation for

what?

Me: master's dissertation paper presentation at All india level.

vo: Very good..why would you come back to India after that?

Me: would definitely like to get married and settle in India sir!!

both had a laugh.

vo: you can marry an american and settle as well!!!

both laughed again

me: No sir I like to settle in India only as I like India, so will be

back!

vo: ok u will get ur passport in three days!

me: thank you sir.

and just left the counter..it was counter no.7 with an elderly

gentleman. I found one thing really shocking! some of the students who

had done very well in answering fumbled at the end..esp those who got

admits thru consultancies..one of the lady vos..just asked one

question to catch one student..she asked "How did u apply to this

univ? and he could not ans this simple questions. all were shocked to

see the student in the counter...still she repeated 'what and all did

u do to apply to this univ' still be blinked and said 'online mam' she

asked further 'what are the procedures u went thru for applying other

than online?' ..this he could not ans...then she knew for sure that

the consultant had done all the homework and declined the visa..it was

almost in his hands and at the end..he lost it due to ignorance and

complete dependence on the consultant!! One has to know the basics..
