Hello,
Thanks to i20fever team for this wonderful group. My visa interview
was on 20th Nov. Following is the details:
VO was a very nice lady in her late 20's or early 30's.
Me : Good Morning Mam!
VO: Directed me to scan my fingers
VO: You are going to study?
Me: Yes
VO: Which Program
Me: MBA in Accounting
VO: It is very costly?
Me: No mam, I got internership and need only US$6000/-
VO: OK
VO: Seeing my Funding Documents... (I divided my fund documents into
two part. (a) Liquid Funds for the first year (b) Other Funds. Gave
the Liquid Funds details only to the Checking Counter. VO did not
asked me for the other funds. She asked me about some entries which
I explained to her. Please study your statement carefully and know
the details of each and every transaction specially the large amount)
VO: Did you ever lost your Passport
Me: Yes
VO: How? (Her expression was very tough)
Me: I was travelling and the zip of my bag was open, i was not
aware....
VO: (She checked my duplicate Passport throughly, saw something in
computer and was surprised. She took the help of other VO to get
something clear, I thought something is wrong. Then the other VO
came and saw in the computer screen and he said something to her. He
too was surprised, I don't know what? But, there was something ....)
VO: What does your father do?
Me: He is a supervisor in a pharma company.
VO: Which Company?
ME: So and so..
VO: Is your wife travelling with you?
ME: No
VO: Why?
Me: She is studying in M.Sc.
VO : Which Subject?
ME: Nutrition and Food Service Management
VO: When she will complete her studies?
Me: Sometime in 2008
VO : You already are MBA? Why again?
Me: I am MBA in Marketing and now I want to specialise in Accouting.
VO: Will you look for a job in USA?
Me: No (firmly)
VO: Why USA?
Me: US is far ahead in Accounting and Fiance compared to any other
country in the world. After completion of this course I will get a
very good job in India.
VO : (By this time she marked a circle on granted section of my DS-
156, which I saw and was relaxed)
VO: How much do you earn? (She checked my bank statement and said
Rs.-----/month)
Me: Yes, mam but the total amount is Rs---- per annum. I am getting
Bonous and incentives every year.
VO : Show me your appointment letter?
Me: I have experience certificate? Will it work?
VO : Show me
VO : Have you informed your company that you are going to study to
US?
Me: No, I will let them know.
VO : Study Hard, Work Hard... You will receive your passport at this
address... You can travel to US one month before your program starts
i.e. on Date ....... (she wrote the date on a sheet of paper which
she gave me) . Carry your original I-20 along with your VISA for
travel to US.
Me: Can I collect the same?
VO: Yes, today you can collect between 4-5 p.m. from this address.
Me: Thank you very much. Have a nice day!
VO: You too.
What I learnt is that Visa Officer don't look much on your assets
etc. They really want to give you VISA. They are trained to be
polite and they respect the genuine travellers to US. You much be
well prepared with your documents and show confidence. Please try to
tell the truth as much as you can. She has not seen my academic
records. The checking counter took only my Passport, DS Forms, I-20,
Sevis Fees receipt, TOEFL Score Sheet, Financial documents for the
first year funding only. Additionaly VO asked my experience
certificate only.
